South Bend, Indiana Portrait Photography | Jennifer Hunter

I had the pleasure of mentoring the amazingly talented Jennifer Hunter of Jenn Hunter Photography. She is new to the business but has such a strong eye for an aesthetically pleasing image you’d think she’s been doing this for years. When we did our second portrait session (because the first attempt was FREEZING), her little girl, Jersey, joined in on the shoot and showed me her just how stinking cute she is as well as helping me hold the light stand (like she does for mommy). I am so excited with these images that I truly couldn’t choose my favorites.katie-whitcomb-photographers_jennifer_hunter

Indianapolis, Indiana, Engagement Photography | Meg & Adam

When I first spoke with Meg about her wedding last year, I was overjoyed when I found we had a common love for Audrey Hepburn. So, when we were planning the locations for her engagement session with her fiancé, Adam, we chose the Indianapolis Museum of Art. I have never been there before and I was in total amazement of the beauty. We focused by the Lily House & Gardens, I began to envision what it would’ve been like to have lived there or attended a party. If they don’t host weddings on that balcony, they definitely should. It just reminds me of Sabrina and the Larabee parties.

As you can see, the inspiration I had from this house alone was a perfect backdrop to showcase Meg & Adam’s love for one another. I am in total awe over these images.

South Bend, Indiana Charity | March of Dimes

I have been asked a lot lately why I chose to support March of Dimes instead of a special needs charity like Logan Center to support children like my son. First of all, my son was affected by the March of Dimes, just like every other child. The March of Dimes raises money to research how a woman can have a healthy pregnancy and how a baby can have a healthy start, even if they are premature. I am a mother and I want more women to have the chance that I have with Bryce. Yes, his disorder can be tough at times, but I would take his small disorder over the challenges these courageous families face by having a premature birth.

My main reason is my grand-daughter (Insert gasps here). Chris’ oldest son, Christopher, and his wife, Jaymee, were expecting their second child and in June 2009, Jaymee went in for her ultra sound to find out if she was having a boy or a girl, but her baby girl didn’t have a heart beat and they had to induce her. Our family has experienced the heartbreak that I don’t want anyone else to have to go through. By supporting the March of Dimes, I am confidant that I can help make a difference to help more babies make it to their first birthday.

If you haven’t already donated, we are half way there. Please donate any amount that you can. For every $5 that you can put toward our walk, you’ll be entered to win a free portrait session. You are more than welcome to gift it to someone that might need or want it. All entries must be made by midnight on Friday, April 23, 2010.

South Bend, Indiana Photography Workshop | Last Katie Whitcomb Workshop

I have a HUGE announcement to make. I have decided that the May 15th workshop will be the last one that I will be doing for the foreseeable future. This was a very hard decision for me to make because I really enjoy getting to know my fellow photographers and helping them excel in their business and their photography. I am very humbled by those that want to learn more from me, but this will be the last workshop that I plan on doing for a while because I want to spend more time working on my own business and working with my son.

So, what are the details for this last workshop? First of all, it’s FREE but will still be limited for 5 photographers. I have an amazingly beautiful couple that will be modeling for us. We’ll go over off camera lighting, exposure, and posing. We plan on shooting from 5-9pm in downtown South Bend, maybe even taking a trip to the beach. I’ll have the location sorted out in the next week.

If you are interested in an hour mentoring session or have your own portraits taken prior to the session, please let me know.

Remember, space is limited so please be quick to register.
