Mia: Baby's First Year
There’s something so special about documenting a family’s story right where life happens — at home. I first met baby Mia when she was just one month old, and I had the honor of photographing her again for her one-year milestone session. Both sessions took place in the comfort of her family’s home, surrounded by her loving mom, dad, and their adorable dog.
Newborn Session
For Mia’s newborn session, we focused on two spaces that told her early story best — the parents’ bedroom and her beautiful nursery. Soft light filtered through the windows as Mia snuggled into her parents’ arms and drifted off to sleep. Her nursery, thoughtfully decorated and filled with the sweetest baby details, made for the perfect backdrop to highlight those early days of bonding and love.
The family’s dog even joined in, making sure not to miss out on the new baby excitement. Capturing those first quiet, cozy moments together was such a joy — a time that passes far too quickly.
One Year Session
When I returned a year later, Mia was on the move! Her one-year session celebrated all the milestones she had reached — her curiosity, her laughter, and her love for exploring. We started in her nursery again, a meaningful nod to where it all began, before moving into the family’s living room where she played and giggled with her parents.
One of my favorite moments was capturing Mia as she climbed the stairs, showing off her growing independence and adventurous spirit. It’s incredible to see how much personality can shine through at this age — every smile, step, and cuddle tells a story of just how much she’s grown.
Why In-Home Sessions Are So Meaningful
Photographing both of Mia’s sessions in her family’s home allowed us to capture the true heart of their story — the everyday spaces filled with love, laughter, and real connection. From the quiet intimacy of newborn days to the energy of toddlerhood, these images tell a story that will only grow more meaningful with time.
If you’re considering in-home newborn or milestone photography, I’d love to help you preserve these beautiful stages of life in the place that means the most — your home.
