There’s something so special about photographing a maternity session in the comfort of a family’s own home. This beautiful couple recently welcomed me into their newly built house in South Bend to capture such an exciting season of life—the anticipation of their twin girls. Their chocolate lab, Finley, happily joined in, making the morning even sweeter.
I love when clients choose their home for a maternity session. It’s the perfect backdrop—filled with personal touches and the promise of future memories. The light-filled spaces of their new home gave us a soft, timeless look, and the cozy details (like the textured blanket in the living room) made everything feel relaxed and natural.
Finley stole the show more than once, leaning in for attention and soaking up all the love. Including pets in maternity sessions is one of my favorite ways to document a family’s story—it shows how complete the household already feels, even before the babies arrive.
Barefoot and wrapped in neutral tones, this session felt calm and connected, perfectly reflecting their excitement for the journey ahead. These images mark the beginning of a year-long story I’ll be documenting with this family, from maternity through their twin girls’ first birthday—and I can’t wait to share more of their milestones with you.
