Caitlyn & Matthew: Maternity Session
There’s something so timeless about celebrating motherhood surrounded by blooms — and the Chicago Botanic Garden was the dreamiest setting for this maternity session. With soft sunlight filtering through layers of petals and greenery, every corner of the gardens felt like a fairytale come to life.
We began our session in the Rose Garden, where the mom-to-be wore a delicate flower crown that perfectly complemented the lush blooms around her. The soft pastels and natural textures gave the entire scene an ethereal quality — as if she belonged among the roses. The way the petals framed her gentle smile and growing bump was pure magic.
From there, we wandered into the English Walled Garden, where manicured paths and cascading ivy created a sense of old-world romance. The contrast between the structured garden design and her soft, flowing gown brought such an elegant balance to the images — refined yet full of warmth and tenderness.
Throughout the session, I wanted to capture more than just portraits; I wanted to tell the story of anticipation, serenity, and grace that defines this beautiful chapter of motherhood. Surrounded by nature’s most lavish blooms, she radiated a calm joy that was impossible to miss.
Every session at the Botanic Garden feels a little different — the light, the flowers, the energy — but this one will always stand out for its ethereal glow and sense of quiet luxury. It was a celebration of life, beauty, and the powerful softness of motherhood all at once.
