I'm a wedding photographer based out of South Bend, Indiana.

I believe in always having a vase full of fresh flowers, especially during peony season. That ending a long day should always be on the patio, with a good book and a glass of rosé. And, going to the beach is always a good idea.

Hi, I'm
Katie

Since I offer an engagement session with all of my wedding collections, I do get to photograph a lot of my couples before their big day. One of the things I love the most about the engagement session experience is that I get a glimpse into who they are as a couple as well as individuals. My work is so deeply rooted in watching my clients so I am capturing their authentic interactions that the engagement session adds another level that wouldn’t otherwise be there.

1. Choose a location that reflects you.

Choose your location based on one of two things. Either it’s a place that has a significant meaning to you or it’s a location that will reflect your favorite kind of date. Is it maybe where he proposed? Do you go for walks there? Are you homebodies that you enjoy cooking together? Do you go to concerts?

2. Seasons are the next best thing to the perfect location.

Based on your location, what season is it the most amazing? Are there beautiful blossoming trees in the spring? Are the trees creating a canopy of fall colors? Is the light the best in your kitchen in the summer?

3. Choosing the right outfits that help tell your story.

If you are a jeans and t-shirt wearing couple, you should show that off. Ultimately, you create your own version of a “styled shoot”. If you are creating a fantasy that reflects how you feel about this time in your life, then by all means, wear that gorgeous sequined ball gown. I highly recommend that you choose outfits that work with the season and location. If you have your heart set on a whitewashed brick wall, don’t wear white. You can either choose the opposite color palette or stay within a similar color palette as the scene. As far as things to avoid; don’t go overboard with loud or dramatic prints. Also, if you are like me and LOVE horizontal stripes, I highly recommend choosing a scarf, or a synching belt, or an open cardigan so that it breaks up the widening effect that stripes have.
